Homie Highlight: Mandy Slaughter

Every day is an adventure at Homeowners Financial Group. The Culture Committee spoils us with fun events throughout the year, as does the Executive Team and Branch Managers. They go beyond ‘there are donuts in the breakroom’…some days I just don’t want to go home!

Mandy Slaughter joined Homeowners Financial Group in August 2016 and works out of the Old Town Scottsdale location as a Licensed Mortgage Professional Assistant for The Conner Group. Mandy takes on numerous team marketing responsibilities along with overseeing the day to day needs of the branch. Not unfamiliar though, she also wore many hats as a preschool teacher prior to coming on board. In terms of her new career she expresses, “Being on Joe Conner’s team, I get to learn and take on new responsibilities on the daily. I feel like I’m in a good place where I can continue to grow.” She also added how the company empowers their employees to take their different talents to the table and meet any challenge.

As a member of the Culture Committee there is one event that stands out. It happened after her move from our Corporate office to our Old Town branch. Our Summer Charity Initiative was in full-swing and the branch had chosen to participate in a backpack drive benefitting local foster children. Led by Mandy, the branch collected supplies and donations for weeks and had a Backpack Packing Party. At donation drop-off, they showed up with 30, hand-stuffed, FULL backpacks. The event organizer was brought to tears at the large donation, which of course brought Mandy to tears as well. In her words, “I work for Homeowners Financial Group, giving back is just what we do, it’s in our blood. I’ve never felt prouder to be a Homie!”

Summarizing Mandy’s work and life balance in 3 words: Family. Community. Inspiration. We will add one more – COOKIES – those homemade treats are something special.
