“Our character is basically a composite of our habits. Because they are consistent, often unconscious patterns, they constantly, daily, express our character.” – Stephen Covey

This month’s Highlight knows the importance of character and the genuine way it plays into her interactions with co-workers and the families we are honored to assist in homeownership. These interactions are impactful to her, stating, “A moment that makes me proud to be a Homie is a recent Client success story. Jenn Hoberg rescued a loan that had issues at another institution. In less than 23 days, we, the HFG team, knocked it out of the park. I am always proud and amazed how everyone kicks in regardless of how busy they are to make it happen. Underwriter Todd Steadman helped us when we had a surprise towards the end. He was patient and helped save the day. Teamwork is huge here and I love being a part of it!” Teamwork starts with you, and we appreciate that you are an integral part of it!

Kristi Veenstra is a Processor recently celebrating her first Homieversary and serving our Midwest sales teams from Iowa. In her role, she receives loan documentation from various sources and reviews it to ensure a complete loan package that meets loan product requirements. That way, a full loan application can be presented on our Clients’ behalf to the Underwriter, simplifying the application process. Blending process and character, her Regional Processing Manager Alise Stricklett stresses, “Kristi is a hard worker with a kind heart. She always goes above and beyond to get loans closed and our borrowers happily into their new home. Best part is she always has a smile and gratitude for the teams she works with and Clients she is lucky to deliver for.”

Character does not stop when she puts the work computer and phone away. Always on the go, her 7-year-old Everston keeps the blood pumping for them both. Workout sessions at the gym including weightlifting allows Mom to keep up with her energetic daughter. In line with her active life and health philosophy, Kristi enjoys researching Functional Medicine which is a systems biology-based approach focused on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease in the hopes of helping future generations.

With current COVID-19 protocols in place and a completely remote workforce, Kristi has been making dreams happen from home since her Day 1. “I work remotely full time from my home, and I have fun at work. I enjoy what I do and the people I get to interact with every day. When you can mix in a little fun each day it makes you better at your job and improves how we get everything done,” she says. Hard work and good fun combine October 2nd as HFG continues to focus on celebrating our top performers. Director of Corporate Culture Caroline Conner stresses the importance of togetherness during this time speaking of our all company annual event, “While State of the Union looks a little different this year (held virtually), we thought it was important to get all the Homies together to recognize and celebrate all of the award winners in front of their peers.”

Reflecting on her employee experience and the organization’s dedication to superior corporate culture in any work environment, Kristi expresses, “I truly feel valued as an employee. My daughter asked me a couple of days ago, how long I have been in mortgage. After 22 years I thought about all the companies I have worked for, and HFG is at the top of my list. I knew it was great to work here but then when I thought about it, it truly is the best company I’ve been blessed to work for.” We are blessed to have employees like Kristi Veenstra at the core of our organization and proud to support her ongoing success.

3 words that best describe Kristi: Inspired. Motivated. Talented.

We are always looking for experienced professionals that are committed to serving the needs of borrowers while maintaining a corporate culture focused on family. If this is you, please contact us for more information on becoming a Homie: www.homeownersfg.com/careers
