Homie Highlight: Ernie Ibarra

The word ‘service’ has many uses. As related to the mortgage industry, customer service stands out as this Homie Highlight’s top priority. “I love to see the smile on people’s faces when you pre-qualify them, and the joy of being able to help a family become new homeowner,” he says. Service on another level is when US Citizens join the military and give themselves to something much larger. This was also the top priority earlier in his career as he served in the Marine Corps. As we approach the Veteran’s Day holiday, Homeowners Financial Group would like to express our gratitude to Ernie Ibarra for his service to our Country. We are honored to employ numerous Veterans across the country and recognize all of those who served in the Armed Forces protecting our freedoms.

After an Honorable Discharge from the military, Ernie Ibarra was intrigued by the mortgage business and joined HFG in July of 2016. As a Licensed Mortgage Professional based out of our Victorville, CA branch he has found his home at Homeowners, saying: “I have a career here – not a job. This is something that I enjoy doing and can’t wait to help the next person.” Likening to his former troops and commanding officer, he adds, “We help each other learn and figure out ways to assist every client. Our Branch Manager Andrew Andreasen is an amazing teacher.” Ernie’s words translate through all of our branches as we focus on growth, both professional and individual.

The fall season – or as Ernie puts it, Football season – is his absolute passion and comically explains, “Whenever football season ends, I feel empty inside.” You have some coworkers who share the same sentiment! Family time is important and some of the family’s favorite activities as big foodies are locating hole-in-the-wall restaurants to try out. If you are in his area, we suggest trying Emma Jean’s Holland Burger Café and then stop by the Victorville office and let him know what you think.

Having served, Ernie is passionate about providing mortgage financing to others who are currently serving or have served. “I was referred a client who was a veteran and now a firefighter, who could not get a loan. As a firefighter for only 6 months, most of his hours were overtime and he had been turned down by so many lenders that he didn’t want to even try again. HFG understood that a firefighter had to do overtime, and that it was part of the job. I was asked to provide letters from the firehouse captain, and the county where he worked for supporting documentation, and this veteran was able to buy his home and move in 30 days later.” We love success stories like this and offer various mortgage products designed to benefit both military and first responders.

With a bright future ahead, Ernie is happy to share his aspirations: “From Andrew at my office, to Pat Lamb (President of HFG) taking the time to pick up the phone, the company has taught me so many things over the years. I would love to one day be a Branch Manager and teach others what I have learned!” We look forward to being part of your journey!

3 words that best describe Ernie: Committed, Driven, Football!
